I’m sure by now you’ve heard people (and by people, I mean
like everyone) talking about the Fifty Shades book series that came out a
couple of years ago. And although they have received somewhat mixed reviews, these
books quickly became #1 NY Times Best Sellers and have sold so many copies they’ve
surpassed the sales records set by the Harry Potter series.
If you haven’t read them yet, they are a trilogy of books
written by British author, E.L. James, which follow a relationship between a
young college student and a wealthy young business man. What starts out as an innocent
interview for her college newspaper eventually turns into dominant/submissive
relationship with a whole bunch of twists and turns (I can’t tell you all the
details or you won’t want to read them…lol)
And though, I’ve never been much into reading erotic books,
I have to admit I really enjoyed reading them. With each book, it was almost
like, “What could possibly happen with these two people next?” "Are they really going to meet again?" So, I thought
they were interesting, to say the least. I was actually excited when each book came out just so I could find out what might happen next.
After reading them, I asked some of my friends and a few
people at work if they had read them, and was shocked by some of their responses. A few
read them and liked them and a few read them and didn’t (no big deal), but a
couple people told me that they wanted to read them but after some of the negative
publicity they’ve received for the BSDM mentions, they were actually too
embarrassed to buy them.
Although they are somewhat erotic in nature and they might have sexual aspects that not everyone is comfortable talking about, I don’t think anyone should be embarrassed
to have them or buy them. They are just books. I love all of my amazing friends, coworkers, and
readers, so for all of you who would like to have copies of these books (but
